Our Impact
How Help Lesotho Creates Measurable Impact in Lesotho
Impact is measured not only by participation, but by how lives, behaviours and opportunities change over time.
This page highlights outcomes across key areas of work, based on program data, participant feedback and observed change.

This reflects sustained, community-based engagement at both individual and system levels over time.

"I am who I am today because of Help Lesotho. Having benefited so much from the programs and support, I desired to give back. As I grew up, I dreamed of becoming a doctor who could help others, and because Help Lesotho gave me the foundation to believe in myself, I believed I could chase that dream."
– Mathata, currently specializing as an OB/GYN physician, and co-leading Help Lesotho’s Alumni Network

Continuous Learning and Improvement
Continuous learning isn't just good practice - for Help Lesotho, it's how we ensure that our work genuinely serves Basotho communities rather than imposing external frameworks.
Our current priorities include:
- Making quantitative data more meaningful by defining outcomes that go beyond immediate program impact.
- Strengthening alignment with sector best practices.
- Ensuring that data collected is referenced when designing programs and making strategic decisions.

Beyond the Numbers: Stories from the Field
We love a good spreadsheet as much as the next team, but the true measure of our work isn’t found in a cell - it’s found in the lives of the people we serve. Our Stories is where we document the raw, real, and messy journey of making a difference.

Explore Detailed Reports
Detailed impact reports provide additional context on our methodology, measurement, and results across all program areas.
Each report includes baseline comparisons, participant feedback, and verified outcomes to demonstrate the measurable change created by your support.
Our Theory of Change: How Our Work Creates Impact
Our approach links community engagement with clear outcomes. By focusing on a set of interconnected Impact Pillars, we support lasting improvements in wellbeing, opportunity and resilience.
This framework is used to guide how outcomes are measured and reported across programs, connecting community-based work with observed and documented results over time.

How Impact is Measured
Understanding impact goes beyond numbers. It requires listening, observing, and creating space for young people to express their experiences in ways that feel natural and safe.
To evaluate programs, Help Lesotho uses a participatory, youth-centered approach that brings the evaluation process to life. Some of the most important changes our programs support are also the hardest to measure - a young person's growing sense of self-worth, their capacity to face setbacks, the way they begin to believe in what's possible for them.
We are committed to understanding these shifts honestly, tracking them over time, and asking whether they last. We do this knowing that we are one part of a much larger story - contributors to change, not the sole authors of it.
