How We Allocate Donations
Every dollar matters. Help Lesotho is committed to transparency, fiscal responsibility, and measurable results. We believe accountability to donors and communities is essential to achieving lasting, evidence-based impact.
We track outcomes, manage resources carefully, and share our results openly so supporters can see how their contributions translate into real change for children, youth, and grandmothers in Lesotho.

What This Means in Practice
In plain terms, your support translates directly into impact:
- $50 supports one month of school supplies and structured mentorship for a girl in rural Lesotho.
- $100 funds youth leadership training that builds confidence, decision-making, and peer education skills.
- $250 contributes to education, wellbeing, and social support for a grandmother-led household.

A Gold Standard in Governance

Help Lesotho is proud to be among the first 100 Canadian charities to achieve accreditation through the Imagine Canada Standards Program (Accredited May 27, 2014).

Funding Needs & Priorities
Help Lesotho is guided by the communities we serve - not by donor agendas.
Our all-Basotho staff live and work alongside program participants, giving them an unmatched understanding of the realities, pressures, and possibilities shaping life in rural Lesotho. This proximity means we're continuously listening, adapting, and directing resources where they will do the most good - building genuine resilience and opening real pathways to potential.
With sustained donor support, we can continue to:
- Build partnerships to strengthen mental health programming
- Maintain commitments to communities and households
- Reach at least 25,000 people annually
- Operate two rural community centres
- Employ 40 local staff to deliver high-impact programs
Our current growth priorities are:
- Expand mental health programming
- Leverage our expertise in psychosocial support to train others and strengthen mental health services nationwide
- Secure a multi-year commitment for the operating expenses of our Pitseng Community Centre
- Scale up programs targeting community leaders, transport operators, teachers and parents to reduce early marriage and gender-based violence
Our programs run in cohorts - meaning your gift has a direct, visible impact. Fund a new cohort of 50 young mothers, sponsor a leadership training for youth - every addition is a real group of real people whose lives change as a result.
Reserves & Transparency
Reserve Policy
To protect our programs from unexpected funding disruptions, the Board maintains a reserve policy of 9-12 months of program funding.
These reserves are actively monitored and deployed to ensure our participants in Lesotho never experience a lapse in support.
Compensation Transparency
Senior staff compensation is disclosed in Help Lesotho’s CRA Form T3010 and reviewed annually by the Board to ensure alignment with sector benchmarks and organizational size.
